Teens Try to Steal Knife From Car, Beer From Drugstore

Teen arrested after admitting to taking knife, sunglasses from car

A 16-year-old boy from Bloomfield Hills was arrested Wednesday after he admitted to taking a knife and sunglasses from an unlocked vehicle on the 1400 block of Henrietta, according to police reports.

According to reports, the car's owner heard a noise outside his home around 12:55 a.m. and saw a young man in his vehicle, reports stated. When police arrived, they found three 16-year-olds at Washington and 14 Mile Road, one of which had the stolen property with him. That teen, police say, admitted to the theft. All three were eventually released to their parents while the report was turned over the Oakland County Juvenile Division.

Man tries to walk out of Kroger with liquor

A 22-year-old man from Southfield was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a worker said he tried to steal liquor from . According to police reports, the man hid three bottles of liquor in a bag around 5:15 p.m. and tried to leave the store without paying. The man was stopped by store personnel and later charged with possession of drug parahernalia on top of the retail fraud arrest.

Teen takes one can of beer from drugstore

An 18-year-old man from Bloomfield Hills was arrested after admitting to stealing one can of beer from Sunday. According to police reports, the beer theft — police say the teen took one 16-ounce can of Budweiser beer — took place around 2:15 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the teen in a nearby backyard with the beer, which police say the teen admitted to stealing.

Man facing drunk driving charges was heading wrong way on Woodward

A 26-year-old man from Orion Township was arrested on drunk driving charges early Sunday morning. According to police reports, the man was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Woodward Avenue near Lincoln around 6:10 a.m. The man was arrested, held until sober and charged with his third offense of operating while impaired as well as his second offense of driving with a suspended license.

Man ticketed for urinating on the street

A 39-year-old man was issued a ticket for urinating in public early Saturday morning. According to police, officers were flagged down around 2:15 a.m. Saturday near North Old Woodward and Willets and told two suspicious men were standing near a parked car. One of the men, who was from Detroit, had urinated next the car.

Purse taken from Art Birmingham, power washer goes missing

Several items were taken from around Birmingham this week:

  • A woman's purse was reported missing from her vendor tent during sometime Sunday afternoon. The woman told police she was distracted by customers when it went missing sometime between 4:40-5:30 p.m.
  • A gasoline power washer was reported missing from behind sometime between last Friday and Saturday, restaurant owners report. The back the restaurant is currently being remodeled.
