Domestic Hit-and-Run; Auto, Motorcycle Thefts; Man Arrested for Blocking Traffic

Domestic dispute turns into hit-and-run

Police arrested a Birmingham man early Tuesday morning after a domestic dispute turned into a hit-and-run incident on Pierce Street.

According to police reports, the man's wife was allegedly driving to the Birmingham police station around 3 a.m. from Southfield, where she claimed her 22-year-old husband assaulted her. While driving up Pierce Street from 14 Mile Road, however, the wife told police her husband hit her car while following her in his own vehicle. Officers later found and arrested the man at his home.

Southfield man arrested after discovered standing in middle of the road

Birmingham police arrested a 67-year-old man from Southfield for disorderly conduct last Saturday after he was discovered standing in the road and blocking traffic near Old Woodward and Brown Street. Police arrested the man at 2:30 a.m. and reports state the man had been drinking and had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of the .

Honda Civic, motorcycle go missing

Police are looking for a car and motorcycle that were stolen from two separate homes last weekend.

According to police reports, a 2000 black two-door Honda Civic was taken from the owner's driveway on the 700 block of Bennaville sometime April 27 or April 28. The owner told police the car was locked at the time.

The motorcycle, a 2007 blue Yamaha, was taken from 30000 block of Woodward Avenue sometime April 27 or April 28. The motorcycle had been sitting in the front service drive area of the owner's home.

Teen flees from police after taking food from drugstore

A 16-year-old from Oak Park was arrested outside of Wednesday evening after he was caught with stolen food items from the drugstore. According to police reports, officers were called to the store around 8:30 p.m. due to a suspicious person seen the back of the business.

A police officer watched the suspect run from the store toward the neighborhood behind the business, where he was later located in a backyard. Police discovered the teen had taken food and tried to take alcohol from the store. The teen was turned over to his parents.

Chain saw, cast iron mailbox among items taken from homes

Police responded to several reports of larceny over the weekend, including:

  • A Craftsman air compressor taken from an unlocked garage on the 2100 block of Yorkshire sometime between April 20 and Tuesday.
  • A chain saw, concrete saw, two hedge trimmers, a cordless drill and blower pack taken from an unlocked detached garage on the 2100 block of Buckingham sometime between last Friday and Tuesday.
  • A wallet taken from a woman's purse at at 2 a.m. Saturday.
  • A free-standing cast iron mailbox taken from the front porch of a home on the 400 block of West Frank Street sometime between 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday.
