Vintage Fur Coat Stolen from Crimson Rose, Police Investigate Attempted Break-In on Northlawn

Drunk drivers pulled over on Maple, Old Woodward

Birmingham Police arrested two drunk drivers last week and weekend.

The first arrest occurred around 2 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 near Maple and Adams. The vehicle was pulled over for speeding, police reports say, and the driver, a 41-year-old Farmington woman, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Officers also arrested a 34-year-old Rochester Hills man around 2 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 near the intersection of Old Woodward and Merrill. Police reports say the man was driving erratically on Old Woodward and upon investigation, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers also found marijuana in the man's car, police say.

Pry marks, chipped door frame discovered at Northlawn home

A resident on Northlawn reported a possible break-in to Birmingham Police.

According to police reports, a homeowner on the 2300 block of Northlawn believes their house may have been broken into sometime between Jan. 4 and Friday, Jan. 18. Police found that the wood trim surrounding the door was cracked, reports state, and there appeared to be fresh pry marks on the door's key and lock striking plate.

The homeowners told police nothing was missing and officers don't believe anyone gained entry to the home.

Police arrest two men on liquor theft charges

Birmingham Police arrested two Rochester men for trying to steal liquor from Kroger. According to police reports, the two men — age 22 and 28 — were caught trying to steal a 1.75 liter bottle of Crown Royal around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrest, police officers discovered both men also had drug parahernalia with them.

Thin, blond woman with "frosty blond hair" seen taking vintage fur coat

A 1930's vintage fur coat was stolen from the Crimson Rose, an antiques shop on Pierce Street. According to police reports, video surveillance from the shop shows a woman stuffing the brown coat into a large black bag and then walking out sometime around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The woman is described as being a short, thin, white woman in her late 20's to early 30's with "frosty blond hair." According to police reports, the store owner believes the same woman stole from her in November as well.

Bloomfield Hills teen arrested on drug possession charges

A Bloomfield Hills teen was arrested for having marijuana and drug paraphernalia last week. Police pulled the 18-year-old over while he was driving near Fairfax and Raynale around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, reports state, and found the drugs.
