Police Blotter: Residents Report Stolen Bicycles, MP3 Player
A man also reported $800 worth of tire rims taken from his backyard.
Here's a roundup of reports:
Two bicycles stolen in two days
Two bikes were reported stolen Monday and Tuesday, the first incident outside the building at 555 S. Old Woodward Ave. and the second on the 1600 block of Hazel Street.
According to police, the first incident occurred around 6 p.m. Monday. The bike’s owner locked the bike to the rail of the 555 building, but when he returned, he found the lock cut off and the bike gone. Police say the bike was a white Specialized mountain bike worth approximately $300.

The second bike went missing from a front yard around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. A neighbor later reported to police that she saw a young man take the bike and provided police with a description. Around 10 p.m., a man matching that description was seen around Adams Road and Maple, police said. According to a police report, when officers asked about the bike, he denied knowing anything about it, giving the officers a name that couldn't be confirmed by the state's record system.
However, when a backup officer arrived, he recognized the man as someone he had arrested last year for attempting to falsely solicit money, the report said. A computer check of the man’s real name revealed he had a warrant out for failing to appear in court, the report said, and officers arrested him for that and on charges of hindering a police officer and possession of stolen property. Police later released him on bond.
