Police Blotter: No Charges Filed in Fight Involving Belt Buckle

Man hits another with a belt buckle during late-night fight

Around midnight Monday, police broke up a fight at the corner of Pierce and Merrill during which one man was hit in the head with a belt buckle.

According to police reports, a man and woman were sitting on a park bench having what they referred to as a minor verbal argument. Three men then approached the couple, reports state, and began threatening the man on the bench. The man then stood up, took off his belt and began swinging it at the three men, according to the report. One of the three ran away while another man was struck in the head. When officers arrived, they found the man bleeding from the head. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical workers but refused to go to the hospital. Statements were taken but no charges were filed.

Woman claims man struck her car during traffic altercation

Police are investigating a traffic altercation that occurred at the intersection of Old Woodward and Oakland around 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to police reports, a woman was driving northbound on Old Woodward when she and the motorcycle in front of her were stopped at the red light at Old Woodward and Maple. When the light turned green, the woman told police the car in front of the motorcycle didn’t move, so she honked to get the first driver’s attention. When they again began driving, the woman said the motorcycle started braking quickly several times.

The woman told police that, when she and the motorcyclist were stopped at the red light at Old Woodward and Oakland, the man got off his motorcycle and approached her. She told police she began driving around the man in the street, but he then struck the side of her car, causing damage. The man denied striking the vehicle to police.

Intoxicated man tries to go home, but to the wrong house

A homeowner on the 1700 block of Villa Road woke up to an intoxicated man trying to enter his house early Monday morning. According to police reports, the homeowner reported that someone was trying to break in around 5 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered the man trying to break in lived a few houses down the road, was intoxicated and believed the house was his. The man was taken home and turned over to a family member. He was later issued a violation for disorderly conduct and given a court date.
