Here is a roundup of recent police news from around town:

Man calling himself ‘Chester’ suspected of stealing wallet

Police are looking for a man suspected of stealing a wallet, $200 in cash, credit cards and personal information. The incident occurred Feb. 17 at a couple’s apartment on the 2400 block of East Maple Road. According to police reports, while the wife was downstairs doing laundry, a man calling himself Chester knocked on the door around 3 p.m., introducing himself as a neighbor from the building next door. After saying he wanted to welcome the pair to the neighborhood, the husband invited the man inside.

The husband later told police that Chester then asked for some coffee. When the husband returned from the kitchen a few minutes later, Chester said he needed to run back to his apartment to fetch something. According to police reports, Chester never returned. When the wife came back upstairs, she discovered that her wallet was missing from her purse, which, she told police, had been located close to where Chester was sitting. When questioned by police, the apartment manager said he doesn’t know of anyone named Chester, and no one matching the husband’s description fits the apartment building’s occupants.
