Church rummage sale volunteers robbed
Volunteers working the at the on Monday and Tuesday reported cash and credit cards stolen from their purses. According to police reports, one theft occurred Monday, the other Tuesday. In both cases, the volunteers discovered their purses missing from where they had originally set them down. Both purses were later found in the church, reports state, with cash and credit cards missing.
Man spars with police as marital spat blocks garage exit
Saturday evening, police responded to reports that an occupied vehicle was blocking the exit of the around 9:40 p.m. Police discovered a husband and wife having a verbal argument in the car and the husband had taken the keys from the ignition and wouldn’t return them. Officer asked the man to get out of the vehicle, which he first refused. He then proceeded to get out the car, push an officer and begin to yell obscenities at him. The man was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Man wanted in Detroit steals tequila from Birmingham Kroger
Birmingham police arrested a man Thursday for taking three bottles of tequila from at the corner of Maple Road and Woodward Avenue. According to police reports, store employees observed the 47-year-old man from Detroit place the bottles in a backpack and leave the store around 1:30 p.m. He was detained and charged with retail fraud. He was later turned over to the Detroit Police Department, which had a warrant out for the man on charges of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct.
Homeowner discovers $4,000 worth of yard equipment, bike missing
Wednesday, a Birmingham homeowner discovered five items had been stolen over the winter from his detached garage on the 1300 block of Yorkshire Road. According to police reports, the man last saw the items — a bicycle, lawn mower, snow blower, hedge trimmer and tiller — last September. According to the homeowner, one door to the garage is usually left open. The approximate value of all five items is a little less than $4,000.
