Police Arrested Drunken Drivers, Teen for Underage Drinking in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made multiple arrests for suspicion of operating while under the influence or underage drinking over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports. 

  • A 33-year-old Westland man faces charged for operating while intoxicated after a Birmingham police officer pulled his vehicle over because he saw it swerving back and forth near Woodward and Oakland at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, reports said. Officers cited him and detained the man at the police station until sober.
  • A Birmingham police officer pulled a vehicle over that was speeding and ran a red light at Eton and Maple roads at about 2 a.m. on July 16. The driver, a 40 year old man from Troy, was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested without incident, reports said. Police issued a citation for operating while intoxicated and gave him a court date.
  • Birmingham responded to the 1000 block of Pilgrim at about 2:30 a.m. July 15 on a noise complaint, and found an 18-year-old man from Birmingham was drinking. He ran off while officers attempted to arrest him and was caught nearby after a brief chase. He was arrested and issued citations for minor in possession of alcohol and resisting a police officer. A court date is pending.
