Police Arrest Woman in Assault on Security Guard at Hamilton Room and More

Witnesses: Woman clawed at Hamilton Room security guard

A Novi woman was arrested Saturday on charges of allegedly assaulting a security guard at the in downtown Birmingham.

According to police reports, officers arrived at the bar around 12:45 a.m. on a call that an unruly woman was refusing to leave when asked. According to bar employees, the 42-year-old woman appeared to be intoxicated when she arrived at the bar. She was refused service and asked to leave, but she then allegedly clawed a security guard who tried to escort her to the door.

The woman was charged with assault and given a court date.

Police catch drunken driver after alleged hit-and-run

A 21-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested after hitting a stopped vehicle at the intersection of Maple and Bates around 10:30 p.m. June 1, then fleeing the scene, police say.

According to police reports, the driver of the hit vehicle called 911 and responding officers watched the Birmingham man's car driving northbound on Old Woodward. The man was later stopped and, according to reports, officers determined him to be intoxicated. He was held until sober and then released on bond.

Teens caught with marijuana, alcohol near railroad tracks

Police arrested four teen boys Saturday for allegedly possessing marijuana and alcohol. Officers on patrol saw the four 16-year-olds near the railroad tracks near Tottenham and Shepardbush around 6:55 p.m. and found marijuana and alcohol on the boys, the police report said. The teens were taken into custody and later released to their parents.

Minor arrested for alcohol possession after he didn't pay cab fare

An 18-year-old from Madison Heights was arrested on the charge of alcohol possession Monday morning.

According to police reports, the man took a cab from Pontiac to Birmingham, but upon arriving at an apartment near 401 S. Old Woodward, he allegedly told the cab driver he didn't have enough money and went into the building. The cab driver called police and responding officers found the man and determined he had been consuming alcohol. He was arrested on a charge of minor in possession, held until sober and released with a court date.

Glass bottle thrown through car window after fight

An argument last weekend escalated into a broken car window, police say. According to Birmingham police, three women from Ann Arbor, ages 22-25, and a 33-year-old man from Benton Harbor were driving in a car together near Old Woodward and Hazel on Saturday. Around 12:45 a.m., an argument broke out, police say, and the woman driver ordered the man out of the car. The man left the car, but then, according to police, threw a glass bottle through a side window, breaking it. The man then left the area in another vehicle, police say.

Detectives continue to investigate.

Truck tires slashed overnight Monday

The tires from two pickups were slashed while parked on the 700 block of Graefield Court and the 700 block of North Eton overnight Monday. According to police, the tires were slashed between midnight and 8 a.m. In addition, police say the truck parked on Graefield Court had some items missing from the truck bed.
