Police Arrest Teens for Underage Drinking in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.


Officers with the Birmingham Police Department stopped several motorists on suspicion of operating while under the influence or being in a vehicle in the presence of illegal drugs over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

An officer on patrol spotted a vehicle parked in the Park Street Parking Structure with all the doors open. The officer approached and found the driver, a 19-year-old male from Pontiac, under the influence of alcohol, reports said. They also found an open bottle of liquor, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
They arrested him without incident and issued citations for minor in possession of alcohol in auto, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A court date is pending.

Drunken driving

  • A 31-year-old Auburn Hills woman faces charges for operating while intoxicated following her arrest for erratic driving near Maple Road and Adams Street at about 1:30 a.m. on June 13. She was issued a citation and released pending a court hearing.
  • A Birmingham officer pulled over a vehicle after spotting the driver without a seatbelt in the area of Woodward Avenue and Bird at about 3:30 a.m. on June 13, reports said. The driver, a 44-year-old male from Clinton Township, was under the influence of alcohol and arrested without incident. He was released upon sobering up and a court date is pending.
