Police Arrest Suspects for Drug Possession, Trespassing; Shoplifters Sought

The following is a roundup of recent reports:

2 women believed to have stolen jewelry, candle from downtown shops

Police are searching for two women who are believed to have stolen several items from and last weekend.

According to police reports, the women were seen in both stores around 11 a.m.  March 3. After the women left the stores, several items were discovered missing, including two rings and a necklace from Oliver's Trendz and a candle from Suhm Thing. Both stores are owned by the same person.

Employees recorded the license plate number of one of the suspects' vehicles, and a search determined the car was registered to a company out of Farmington Hills. Police continue to investigate.

19-year-old found intoxicated in stranger's garage

A 19-year-old man out of Bloomfield Hills was charged with trespassing and underage possession of alcohol after he allegedly entered someone's garage late at night.

According to police reports, a homeowner on the 200 block of Pilgrim saw someone fall down next to his garage around 12:35 a.m. March 4. The person then got up and entered the homeowner's garage.

When police officers arrived, they found the man in the garage. The man told police he thought he was at his friend's house and, according to officers, appeared to be intoxicated. The homeowner said he didn't know the man.

Investigation revealed the subject's blood alcohol level to be three times over the legal limit to drive. The man was taken into custody, charged and then held until sober.

Birmingham man with several warrants out charged with marijuana possession

Two men from Farmington Hills and Birmingham were arrested last weekend for allegedly possessing marijuana as well as driving with a suspended license.

According to police reports, officers first spotted a car driving westbound on Lincoln with no license plates around 3:20 p.m. March 3. When police tried to pull over the car, the car sped up, turned southbound on Grant Street and pulled into a parking lot.

The police officer then reported he saw items being thrown from the car and two people exited the vehicle. The occupants — the driver was a 20-year-old out of Farmington Hills while the passenger a 20-year-old from Birmingham — were detained.

Further investigation revealed the driver had a suspended driver's license and what had been thrown from the vehicle appeared to be two small bags of marijuana. The driver was charged with driving with a suspended license while the passenger was charged with possession of marijuana. The passenger also had several outstanding warrants from Detroit and Birmingham.

Detroit man with several warrants taken into custody, discovered with a crack pipe

A 48-year-old man from Detroit was taken into custody last week for absconding parole and possessing a crack pipe.

According to police reports, officers found the man at the corner of Old Woodward and Merrill on reports he was soliciting money from passers-by. At first, the man gave police officers a false name but further investigation revealed his real name.

According to reports, the man had a warrant out from the Michigan Department of Corrections for absconding parole, as well as six outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Detroit. Upon being taken into custody for the warrants, officers discovered a suspected crack pipe in his possession. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and turned over to the Department of Corrections.
