Police Arrest Intoxicated Man on 14 Mile; Golf Clubs, Bikes Stolen

Following is a roundup of recent Birmingham Police reports:

Pontiac man found staggering down the road

A 53-year-old Pontiac man was arrested Tuesday morning after he was found standing in the middle of 14 Mile Road near Woodward, intoxicated. According to police reports, officers responded to a call that a man was walking in the middle of the road trying to approach vehicles around 9:30 a.m. Officers reported the man was staggering as he walked.

Officers learned upon approaching the man that he had been drinking. The man was taken into custody, held until his blood alcohol level was at an acceptable level and charged with disorderly conduct. The man also has a warrant out of Dearborn Heights for disorderly conduct.

Cameras catch man stealing rubber hoses twice

Police are on the lookout for a man suspected of taking rubber hoses from the at 33300 Woodward Ave. According to police reports, the owner reported that someone cut and stole two long rubber hoses around 8:15 p.m. Saturday. The hoses are used to alert employees that a vehicle is waiting to enter the garage.

Surveillance cameras show an unknown man arrive on bicycle, cut the hoses, roll them up and leave going southbound down a nearby alley. According to police, the same man was caught on surveillance cameras doing the same thing Oct. 30. According to police, the man is described as being between 45-55 years old, wearing blue jeans, a baseball cap and a white winter jacket, with a mustache.

$4,000 in golf clubs, bikes taken from garage

More than $4,000 in bicycles and golf clubs was reported stolen from a garage on the 2300 block of Manchester last weekend. According to police reports, the homeowner believes someone entered the detached garage through an unlocked side door. Two bicycles and a set of golf clubs, worth approximately $4,400, were taken.
