Police Arrest Drunk Drivers From Birmingham, Franklin During Busy Weekend

Birmingham Police arrested three drunk drivers near Eton and Holland, Maple and Woodward, and Brown and Southfield between Jan. 10-13.

Birmingham Police arrested three drunk drivers two weekends ago, two from Franklin and one of which had consumed a dangerous amount of Xanax and alcohol.

The first incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 near the intersection of Eton and Holland. Police were called to the scene of an accident and found a car had skid off the road and hit a tree.

Police later determined the driver, a 24-year-old man from Birmingham, had consumed Xanax and alcohol over the legal limit. The man was arrested and given a court date.

The second incident occurred the following night, around 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11. Police were called about a suspicious vehicle spinning its tires near the intersection of Brown and Southfield and found a 53-year-old Franklin man with a BAC twice over the legal limit.

According to police reports, the front right tire of the man's car was almost completely disconnected from its axle while two nearby vehicles were also damaged. The man was arrested and given a court date as well.

Finally, officers pulled over a car driving erratically near Woodward and Maple around 2 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The driver, a 47-year-old Franklin woman, had a BAC twice over the legal limit. According to reports, the woman was held at the Birmingham Police Department on $100 bond until sober.
