Multiple Drunken Drivers Arrested in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department stopped several motorists on suspicion of operating while under the influence over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports. 

  • Officers arrested a 61-year-old Pontiac man for drunken driving and driving on a suspended license in the area of Woodward Avenue and Hazel Street shortly after 4 p.m. on May 9, reports said. Officers detained him until he sobered up and released him on bond with a court hearing pending. 
  • A 59-year-old West Bloomfield man faces charges for drunken driving after officers pulled him over for not signaling when he turned onto Maple Road from Henrietta Street at about 2:30 a.m. May 6, reports said. Officers arrested him without incident and cited him for operating while intoxicated. They detained him until he sobered up and released him on bond with a court hearing pending. 
  • Officers arrested a 42-year-old Royal Oak man for operating while intoxicating after they pulled him over for missing a stop sign at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Oak Street at about 3 a.m. May 4, reports said. They detained him until he sobered up and released him on bond with a court hearing pending. 
  • A 25-year-old Detroit man faces one count of operating while intoxicated after police caught him speeding and driving erratically in the area of Fairfax Street and Maple Road at about 2:30 a.m. on May 2, reports said.
