Motorist, Man Arrested for Drug and Alcohol Use in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • An officer cited a 21-year-old Birmingham man for for possession of a controlled substance after he was arrested for smoking marijuana while driving on New Year's Eve, police reports said. The officers saw the driver smoking and stopped the vehicle without incident in the area of Woodward Avenue and Oak Street at about 9 p.m. A court date is pending.
  • Officers responded to a report of someone making a disturbance near Kakos at about 2 a.m. Dec. 28 and said they found a 25-year-old West Bloomfield man in the alley between Kakos and the Comerica Bank, reports said. The man was visibly intoxicated and arrested for disorderly conduct.
