Motorcyclist Killed on Mound Road; Police Say Alcohol a Factor

A man was killed when his motorcycle ran off Mound Road Sunday, just south of 26 Mile Road.

Alcohol may have played a role in a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday evening on Mound Road, according to Shelby Township police.

Police said the motorcycle driver approached a sharp curve on Mound Road, just south of 26 Mile Road at a high rate of speed around 8 p.m. The motorcyclist was going too fast and could not complete the turn, according to Shelby Township Police Chief Roland Woelkers.

The man was critically injured in the fall. He was transported to Henry Ford Hospital, where he later died.

Police said in a release that it appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this crash.

The driver’s name is not being released due to an ongoing investigation.

Police are looking for witnesses in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 586-731-2121.

Either it was the mirror or you're airing about family issues. Anyway 4th grade is still above you.

Take away from this what you will. I for one, once I know for sure, will never argue with a fool.

I'll leave my opinion of the whole accident out of here. All I want to say is I wish people would STOP leaving beer cans at the white cross you put out by the accident site. This isn't a trash dump. If alcohol was a factor I think slamming beers at the accident site doesn't really look the best. Pick up your trash.

ANYTIME there is ANY alcohol present, the police are REQUIRED to list it as "a factor". The LAW says that you may consume the equivalent of two beers in an hour and legally drive a vehicle. Therefore, he may have stopped to see a buddy and had one beer, and crashed for a completely different reason. Those who have NEVER had EVEN ONE drink with dinner then drove home may continue to cast stones.
