Minors Under the Influence in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department arrested multiple teens for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • A Birmingham officer stopped a vehicle for making an illegal turn out of the Seaholm High School parking lot onto Midvale Street at about 5 p.m. on Sept. 16. The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Birmingham, was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and issued citations for drug paraphernalia and the prohibited turn.
  • Birmingham officers spotted a vehicle driving slowly and without its lights on, on Midvale near Glenhurst at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 15, reports said. Once the vehicle stopped, the driver got out and ran from the scene on foot. Officers approached the vehicle, and found the passenger, an 18-year-old Birmingham, man, was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of marijuana. He was arrested for Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and Possession of Marijuana.
  • A Birmingham officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Woodward, south of Wimbleton at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 16, reports said. The driver, a 20-year-old Bloomfield Hills man, was under the influence of alcohol and arrested for zero-tolerance under 21. He received a citation and was released on bond.
