Man Assaults Women With Chair at the Palladium in Front of Birmingham Police

The Rochester Hills man was arrested for assault, and another man from Franklin was charged with throwing a drink in a woman's face in a separate incident, police reports said.

 

A 48-year-old Rochester Hills man could face assault and other charges for striking a Detroit woman with a chair during an altercation that started in a movie theater at the Palladium 12 Theatre, police reports said. Birmingham police officers responded to the theater at about 11 p.m. Thursday after ushers kicked out the man, a woman he was with, and a group of women from Detroit due to an altercation.

The dispute continued in the hallway of the third floor and the woman from Rochester Hills was reportedly pushed down, punched and kicked.

Officers said they saw the man throw a chair toward the women in retaliation, and then strike a woman with a second chair after swinging it, reports said. The 21-year-old Detroit woman suffered a large cut on her head and received treatment from the Birmingham Fire Department.

Officers arrested the man for aggravated assault and for carrying a concealed weapon (loaded handgun) with an expired license.

Assault with Alcohol

A 37-year-old  Franklin man faces an assault charge for throwing his drink in the face of a woman at Edison's, police reports said. Officers responded to the bar at about midnight March 31, and the learned the man threw the drink during an altercation with the 36-year-old Troy woman after she reportedly pushed his wife’s purse off a chair.

The bouncer intervened and police arrested the man without incident. Officers issued a citation for assault and battery, simple assault and received a unspecified court date, reports said.

Standing in Traffic

Officers arrested a 28-yer-old Birmingham man for disorderly conduct after he stood in traffic at Maple and Peabody early Saturday morning. Officers responded at about 2:30 a.m. and issued a citation for interfering with traffic. They arrested the man for disorderly conduct due to verbal and aggressive behavior with police. Officers detained the man until he was sober and a court hearing is pending, reports said.
