Man Arrested for DUI, Smashing Girlfriend's Window in Birmingham

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

Birmingham police arrested a 24-year-old Sterling Heights for driving while intoxicated and then learned he was suspected of intentionally damaging his girlfriend's property in a separate incident. Officers pulled the man's vehicle over for driving erratically and missing the stop sign in the area of Banbury and Taunton at about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 9, reports said. 

The man was under the influence of alcohol, police said, and later determined he also smashed out a window at his girlfriend's home in the 1200 block of Humphrey earlier that day. Police cited him for operating while intoxicated and malicious destruction of property. A court date is pending.

Woman Cited for OWI

A Birmingham officer stopped to help a vehicle that had pulled over with its hazard lights on in the area of Southfield and Northlawn at about 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, reports said. The driver, a 21-year old-woman West Bloomfield resident, was under the influence of alcohol and arrested without incident. Police issued her a citation for operating while intoxicated and a court date is pending.
