Law Offices Vandalized in Downtown Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department responded to the area on separate days.

Different law offices along Frank Street reported malicious destruction of property incidents to the Birmingham Police Department last week. Officers responded to an office in the 200 block of Frank Street shortly after employees reported for work on Aug. 2 and found damage to the front door, sprinklers and side door.

Police said the front door's spring mechanism was ripped out, which caused the door to remain open. Police also found scratches on the window pane and are investigating. Nothing was reported stolen.

The incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 1 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2, reports said.

Officers responded to a law office in the 300 block of Frank Street after employees reported a man threw a piece of concrete through the office window at about 3 p.m. Aug. 5. No one was injured.

Police said a witness described the man as white and about 5-feet-10. He wore khaki shorts, a red shirt and a dark ball cap.

It is unclear if the crimes are related, but anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the department at 248-530-1870.
