Intoxicated Man Tries to Break Into Car; Police Arrest Drunk Driver at Parking Garage

Intoxicated man tries to break into car, resists arrest

Police arrested a Plymouth man early on Halloween morning after witnesses say he tried to break into a car while intoxicated.

According to police reports, a homeowner on the 1500 block of Ruffner had his vehicle parked on the street, locked and running. Upon leaving his house around 7:20 a.m., he saw the man trying to open his car door.

The man then fled the area, witnesses say, heading north on Torry. The responding officer intercepted the man near Torry and Holland. The man — later determined to be a 30-year-old from Plymouth — tried to resist officers and appeared intoxicated, reports state. He was eventually taken into custody, charged with disorderly conduct, held until sober, posted bond and was released with a court date.

Detroit man cuts off police officer, arrested for drunk driving

A call about an unruly group at the Park Street Parking Garage resulted in a drunk driving arrest last Friday night.

According to police reports, police responded to complaints of an unruly group at the parking garage around 2:55 a.m. early Saturday morning, Oct. 27. Responding officers were then cut off by a car leaving the garage, with a passenger hanging outside the vehicle, reports state.

The driver, a 25-year-old man out of Detroit, failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody. His blood alcohol level, police say, was twice over the legal limit.

Man throws a board at another construction worker during fight

Police arrested a 56-year-old Waterford Township man after he and a fellow construction worker got into a fight early Friday morning, Oct. 26.

According to police reports, the two men started arguing on the 400 block of Pleasant Street around 7:50 a.m. The Waterford man then allegedly threw a board at the other man and punched him. The man posted bond and was released with a court date.

Locked window foiled attempted home invader, police say

Nothing was taken during an attempted home invasion on the 600 block of Oakland on Thursday, Oct. 25. According to police reports, sometime between 7 a.m.-6 p.m., a side window screen was cut and removed from the window. The window, however, was locked and no one entered the home.

Thief breaks in van window, steals laptop

A laptop computer was taken from a work van sometime between 12:40-12:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The van was parked in a parking lot at 820 S. Old Woodward Ave., reports state. Police say someone broke out the van's side window and took the laptop inside.

Party ends when homeowner slapped with noise violation

A party was broken up early last Saturday night, after police responded to complaints of loud noise at a home on the 900 block of Chestnut. According to police reports, the homeowner was issued a loud noise violation after officers were called twice to the address.
