Intoxicated Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct; Marijuana Discovered in Car

Woman believes intoxicated man was trying to carjack her

A 40-year-old man from Royal Oak was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct after a woman said he allegedly tried to get in her car.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the area of East Merrill and Pierce Street around 1:50 a.m. due to a possible carjacking in progress. They met up with the car's driver, who said she was dropping off her friend in front of 211 E. Merrill when an unknown man opened the rear door of her car and started to get inside.

The woman said she believed the man was trying to carjack her and her friend, and began driving away. The man fell out of the car and onto the road, reports state. The woman drove around the block, she said, and called 911.

Witnesses told police that they then saw the man walking northbound on Old Woodward. Officers checked the area and found the man in the men's bathroom at . The man, officers determined, was intoxicated and disoriented and they took him into custody.

Police officers reported that they believe the man got into the car by mistake, due to his intoxicated state. When interviewed, the man said he couldn't remember anything about the incident.

Man arrested for marijuana possession charges

A 24-year-old Bloomfield Hills man was arrested on Feb. 3 at the intersection of Old Woodward and Maple and charged with possession of marijuana.

According to police reports, an officer working selective traffic enforcement stopped a car for making a prohibited turn at around 5 p.m. The officer reported that he could smell burnt marijuana coming from the car.

A search of the car revealed a small quantity of suspected marijuana and an unknown pill bottle containing several pills, believed to be amphetamine pills, reports state. The driver was taken into custody and charged with possession of a marijuana, illegal possession of amphetamine pills and possession of a controlled substance not in an original container.
