Car Stolen on Bennaville; Wallet Missing at Baldwin House in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department investigated a stolen vehicle report filed by a man who said he could not find the car when he returned to Bennaville Street on Dec. 24.

The man told police he parked his 2005 Mercury Mariner on Bennaville near Edgewood at 3:30 pm on Dec.23, and returned at about noon Dec. 24 and it was gone. Officers could not locate any witnesses and no suspect information was available. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers also responded to the Baldwin House for a larceny report last week. A 91-year-old resident at the home, located at 200 South Chester, said an undisclosed amount of cash was missing from the desk drawer in his living room, reports said.

The man told officers that the money was there before lunch at about noon Dec. 19, but was gone when he returned from the meal. The door was unlocked, reports said. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the department at 248-530-1870.
