Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.
Birmingham police officers arrested a 52-year-old Birmingham man for drunken driving after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed through a wooden fence near Cranbrook and Lincoln at about 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. A witness told police the vehicle swerved between lanes, then lost control and through the fence, reports said.
Police said the driver's blood-alcohol-content was more than three times the legal limit, and that officers found open bottles of liquor in the vehicle, along with a prescription. Authorities issued citations for operating while intoxicated and open intoxicants and possession of prescription drugs.
