Birmingham Police Investigate Attempted Burglary

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department responded to a home in the 1600 block of Yorkshire after the resident reported an attempted break-in on July 8, police reports said.

The resident told police they could not open the door using the house key after coming home at about 10 p.m. They called a locksmith, who noticed pry marks around the deadbolt lock.

Officers confirmed the pry marks and also discovered other scratches on the door frame and molding near the lock, reports said. No entry was gained and nothing was taken. The attempted break-in is believed to have occurred between 8-10 p.m. There were no witnesses, and no suspect information is available. The incident remains under investigation.
