Birmingham Police Arrest Multiple Drunken Drivers

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • A Birmingham officer stopped a vehicle for an illegal U-turn on Old Woodward Avenue in the area of Harmon and Aten Ct. at about 1 a.m., Sept. 5, police reports said. The driver, a 47-year old Bloomfield man, was under the influence of alcohol and arrested. Police issued a citation and later released him on bond pending a court hearing.
  • Birmingham officers responded to the scene of a crash involving a vehicle that struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle at St. Andrews and Buckingham at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 6, reports said. The driver, a 40-year-old Birmingham man, was under the influence of alcohol. Police arrested him without incident, issued a citation, and released on bond pending a court date.


Statue broken


A resident in the 1300 block of Northlawn reported that they discovered a statue in the backyard was broken at about 9 a.m. on Sept. 10. The homeowner suspected it was knocked over by someone, likely between 1 a.m. Sept. 9. and 9 a.m. Sept. 10, reports said. There are no suspects or witnesses.
