Birmingham Police Arrest Multiple Drunken Drivers

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • Birmingham police arrested a 46-year-old Bloomfield Hills for driving under the influence of alcohol in the area of Woodward Avenue and Big Beaver Road at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 9, reports said. He was held until sober and released on bond, and faces charges for Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense.
  • A Birmingham police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of Woodward Avenue and Bowers Street at about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 5 and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol, reports said. The officer arrested the 44-year-old Bloomfield woman without incident and issued a citation for Operating While Intoxicated. A court date is pending. 
  • A 60-year-old Royal Oak man faces charges for operating while intoxicated after police stopped his vehicle for speeding along Woodward Avenue last week, reports said. A Birmingham police officer witnessed the man's vehicle speeding in the area of Woodward and 14 Mile Road at about 10 p.m. Oct. 2. The officer determined the driver was under influence, arrested him and issued a citation before releasing him on bond.
  • A Birmingham police officer stopped a vehicle driving near Maple and Adams roads with a headlight out at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 10. The driver, a 34-year-old Oak Park man, was in possession of marijuana and was arrested, reports said. Officers issued a citation for possession of marijuana and released him on bond pending a court date.
