Attempted ATM Theft, Contractor's Tools Stolen in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department are investigating an attempted theft from an ATM machine at a Comerica Bank branch last week, reports show. A security officer at the branch, located at 33101 Woodward Ave., told police that someone damaged the exterior ATM machine sometime before 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9. The attempt to open the machine was unsuccessful.

No suspect information was available.

Officers also took reports from two different contractors who said tools were stolen in separate incidents last week:

  • A contractor working in the 2000 block of Yorkshire told officers that someone stole his siding brake and a 24-foot aluminum ladder from a garage that he  used to store equipment. The victim said he discovered the items missing at about 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. The garage was unlocked at the time of the theft, and no suspect information was available.
  • A contractor working at a construction site at 550 West Merrill St. told police that several tools were taken from his toolbox over the weekend. The missing items include a laser level and concrete nail guns worth an undisclosed amount, reports said. The theft occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 and 7 a.m. Monday. No suspect information was available.
Anyone with information about any of these incidents is encouraged to call the department at 248-530-1870.
