AT&T & Autism Speaks Host a "Hacking Autism" App Contest

Educators, parents and researchers have seen the benefits of touch screen tablets, mobile devices and apps to help individuals on the autism spectrum organize, learn and connect.

This is particularly important because today, one in 88 children is on the autism spectrum, according to a Centers for Disease Control study, and health officials have noted the prevalence is increasing. To make life with autism better organized, easier, more social, AT&T and Autism Speaks have teamed up to host a ‘Hacking Autism’ app idea contest.

 Participants can enter their idea through Feb. 3. The authors of the top three app ideas in each category will receive a Pantech Element tablet.

We know that technology offers important and exciting ways to unlock and enable the untapped potential in the thousands of people on the autism spectrum. We want to hear from the community about the tools that can make a real difference.


To enter the contest:

1. Go to AutismSpeaks Facebook page
2. Submit your app idea using the “Submit Entry” tab. Be sure to select
   one of the four categories: verbal, non-verbal, school-age (K-12) and adult.
   Submissions are open now through February 3rd.
3. 10 finalist ideas in each category will be selected and presented for
   public voting on February 11th. See rules, terms and conditions for selection
