The Community House (TCH) Presents “Farm to Table Strolling Block Party”

The Community House will
present “Farm to Table Strolling Block Party,” promoting Grow/Buy Local
Michigan, September 7, 4:00 to 8:00pm, at The Community House, 380 South Bates Street Birmingham. All of the streets surrounding The Community House will be blocked off.  In the event of rain, the party will move inside The
Community House.  Proceeds will support TCH iCount™/Kids Count Wellness and Feed Your Family’s Future Outreach Programs.


The “Farm to Table Strolling Block Party” will feature tastings from chefs representing well-known area restaurants from Oakland and Wayne counties who will exclusively use Michigan grown ingredients in their

food tastings.  Michigan vendors will sell the best of Michigan farm fresh

agricultural produce, cheese, meat, baked goods, jams and other edible products. Local breweries, wineries and distilleries will also be on hand to conduct tastings.  Children will enjoy kids’ activities including animal balloon

sculptures and glitter tattoos. The event is co-chaired by Robb and Kate

Harper.

Participating Restaurants and Caterers include: Northern Lakes Seafood Restaurant; Gastronomy; Toasted Oak; The Fox Grill; The Forest Grill; The Root;  Be Well Lifestyle Centers Café;  Amici’s Gourmet Pizza; Commonwealth Café; Peabody’s; Cacao Tree Café;  John Cowley & Sons; Lafayette Market; Canapé Cart; Dorsey
Culinary Academy; Schoolcraft College; Epoch Catering; 2 Unique Caterers; and
The Community House Caterers.


Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales (Dexter) and Northern Peak Brewing Company (Traverse City) will present beers for tastings.  Michigan Wines will be available from Verterra Winery (Leland) and Good Harbor Vineyards (Lake Leelanau).  In addition, Journeyman Distillery of  Three Oaks,

Michigan will provide tastings of their hand-crafted organic whiskey and spirits.





Vendors include: Cooper Street Cookies; Crossroads Creamery Cheese; Epicure Market at Mills Pharmacy + Apothecary; Eastriver Organic Farms; Farm Boy Produce; Guernsey
Farms Dairy; Great Harvest Bread; Green Toe Honey; Hickory
Hill Farms; Imerman Cakes; Mighty Good Coffee; Peteet’s Famous

Cheesecakes; Schakolad; Slow Jams; Xiong’s Fresh Asian Produce; and The Spice and Tea Exchange. 


“We are thrilled to present our first annual ‘Farm to Table
Strolling Block Party,’” said Camille Jayne, President and CEO of The Community House. “One of unique features of our event is that it presents the opportunity to meet with local chefs and get their tips on using fresh Michigan
ingredients.  The event not only promotes Michigan sustainability, but the
proceeds from the event will help TCH conduct our Outreach Programs for at risk
children and families.”

or by calling 248-644-5832.  Adult tickets are $25 (includes one drink
ticket) Children 12 years of age and under are $10.
