Community Corner

Rouge Rescue 2014

Each spring Friends of the Rouge and community partners
bring volunteers together from across the watershed to work toward the common
goal of improving the Rouge River in Southeast Michigan.  The river winds through neighborhoods and
backyards in 48 communities as it flows to the Detroit River and is home to 1.5
million people.

Volunteer help is needed to clean up trash from the Rouge

River and to remove invasive plants that threaten biodiversity.  Volunteers will also work to plant native
vegetation to reduce streambank erosion and the devastating impact of
stormwater.  Activities vary by
site.  Multiple work sites will be held
across the region.
