L. Brooks Patterson Speaks at The Community House

Oakland County Executive,

L. Brooks Patterson, will speak at The Community House, 380 South Bates Street,Birmingham, November 19th, 7-8pm.

The event is open to the public, free of charge.  Patterson will  speak about

transforming Oakland County to a knowledge-based economy that will create

sustainable, high-paying jobs for decades to come.  Emerging Sectors, the initiative he began in

2004 to diversify the economy, has attracted more than $2.56 billion in

investment.  At least 246 Emerging

Sectors companies have created more than 29,000 jobs and retained nearly

14,000. Patterson says that while Oakland County may not be “recession-proof,” his goal is to make it “recession-resistant,” no longer relying on a single

industry for prosperity. In his sixth four-year term as

CEO of one of America’s most affluent and progressive counties, Patterson presides over a $776 million annual budget for FY2013 and a county workforce of nearly 4,000 employees. During the 20 years of his administration, Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s have awarded Oakland County its coveted AAA bond

rating for its prudent fiscal policies and success in transforming Oakland

County’s economy from a manufacturing to a knowledge-based economy. There

is no charge to attend. RSVP requested: 248.554.6596. For more information
