Imani Winds & Gilbert Kalish, piano - Chamber Music Society of Detroit

Imani Winds is not your typical
chamber music ensemble. One might say they're musicians on a mission.

As North America's premier wind quintet, Imani is known for adventurous
programming that spans classical, jazz and spirituals, incorporating African,
Latin American and American influences. The five classical virtuosi who
comprise the group have made it their business to expand the repertoire for
wind ensembles worldwide, by composing and arranging music for themselves, as
well as commissioning composers from a wide variety of genres.

They make a rare appearance in the Detroit area on two consecutive
nights with different programs that reflect the diversity of their interests.
