Shain Park Menorah Lighting

LIGHTING UP SHAIN PARK ON CHANUKAH

The annual lighting of the Menorah in Shain Park, Birmingham,  will take place on Wednesday night, December 12, at 6:30 p.m., with musical accompaniment by the acapella ensemble, "Pella."

Following the Shain Park lighting, there will be an indoor After-Glow Chanukah party at about 7 p.m. across the street in the ballroom at the Birmingham Community House featuring refreshments along with holiday games, activities, and art projects.

The After-Glow will also introduce a new music band, "Shlomo and the Chutzpanyaks," described as "Jewish Gospel from the Heart of Detroit."

Chanukah is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrating the "miracle of light," the spiritual principle that the light of goodness and kindness will always overcome the darkness of evil and hate, which symbolized by the lighting of the menorah on each night of the holiday.

The Menorah Lighting and After-Glow are being hosted by the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chai Center, a synagogue serving the Birmingham-Bloomfield Hills area.  For more information, contact Rabbi Boruch Cohen of the Chai Center at 248-203-6721 or bbchai.rabbi@gmail.com; or go to www.bbchai.org.
