Carols by Candlelight

Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host its 62nd annual Carols by Candlelight performance. A cookie and punch reception will follow in the church’s fellowship hall in the lower level. A free will offering will be taken at the end of the concert.

For choirmaster, John Wittrock, this will be his 44th time conducting the combined choirs, which include:

  • Senior Choir (Adult Men and Women)

  • Treble Choir (Adult Women)

  • Chamber Choir (Adult Men and Women)

  • Jubilation (3-5th Grades) combined with OS High School Girls Chorale

  • Young Disciples (6-8th Grades)

  • Our very own Carols by Candlelight Orchestra (all OS members and school alumni)

“Our first Carols by Candlelight was on December 24, 1950 and was conducted by then choirmaster Erich Bredehoeft,” says Katie Priskorn, Church office manager and assistant music director. “Several times the senior choir appeared on the Channel 4 TV program ‘Church at the Crossroads’. The sanctuary is always full and we advise people to get there early to guarantee getting a good seat.”
