Antiques Valuation Day

Ever wondered what Grandma’s carriage clock is actually worth? Or that old painting that Great Uncle Ernie passed on to you?

John Taylor Hospice is offering you the chance to find out with its first Antique and Collectables Valuation Day.

Taking
place at the Asda Superstore in Minworth on Sunday September 8, valuer
Carol Woods will be on hand between 10am and 2.30pm to offer expert
advice and information.

There is a £1 charge for each item and
money raised will help John Taylor Hospice ensure it can make every
moment matter for the hundreds of people it cares for and their families
and carers.

And everyone has the chance to take part in a fun
Antiques Quiz to win a top prize of a £30 antiques voucher which has
been donated by Charles Hanson of BBC Bargain Hunt fame.  There will
also be a bric-a-brac stall just for fun.

Carol has a career in
antiques which spans more than 20 years. She started with her own small
business buying and selling antiques and then expanded into consultancy
and independent valuations for clients.

For the last eight
years she has worked for Charles Hanson assisting him in building his
business and hosting valuation days both locally and further afield. One
special find was a Chinese vase which went on to sell at Hanson’s
auction for £192,000 – an auction record for the company!

Carol
is now semi-retired and looks to ‘lend out’ her valuation skills to
charities and social enterprises in order to hold fundraising days with
her newly-found ‘spare time’.

So come along and say hello maybe you have that special item that will be worth as much as the Chinese vase!
