21st CWAM's SYMPOSIUM ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING WITH SEN. JUDY EMMONS

Sex trafficking is defined as commercial sex acts induced by force, fraud, or coercion or commercial sex acts in which the individual induced to perform commercial sex has not attained 18 years of age.

The common misperception is that human trafficking only involves young brought to the U.S. from overseas.  The startling fact is up to 150 girls from Michigan are being sold into sex trafficking EVERY MONTH.

Sen. Judy Emmons, R Sheridan will discuss this epidemic and the contents of the 19 bill package introduced earlier this month which includes stiffer penalties on activities which promote trafficking, and also addresses obtaining treatment for the victims as well as providing a means for them to receive compensation from the violators.
