Weekend Planner: Pumpkin Patch, Groves Garage Sale

Also headlining this weekend is the Birmingham Education Foundation's tailgate party before the Seaholm vs. Groves football game Friday.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this weekend. Birmingham Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.


  1. Where:

    When: 6:30 p.m. Friday
    Why Go: Using teamwork and map skills, participants can compete in The Community House's annual road rally scavenger hunt throughout Oakland County. Afterwards enjoy the Boo Blast after party, featuring catered food, live entertainment, a costume contest, giveaways, an open bar and more. The event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Community House.

  2. Where:
    Municipal parking lot No. 6 off North Old Woodward Avenue
    When: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday
    Why Go: Autumn chill has set in and the days of heading out to open air markets are disappearing. Sunday is the last day of the Birmingham Farmers Market for this season. This year the Farmers Market brought in record-breaking crowds.

  3. Where: parking lot
    When: Friday at 6 p.m.
    Why Go: Before Birmingham rivals Seaholm and Groves battle each other on the football field, stop by the Birmingham Education Foundation's (BEF) tailgate party. The BEF will provide free hotdogs and beverages, plus pom pons in your choice of colors to show off your favorite team spirit. The marching band will also give a special performance.

  4. Where:

    When: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon Sunday
    Why Go: The Groves garage sale will feature clothing, toys, books, furniture, sports equipment, bicycles, electronics, small appliances, and household goods. Come at 8 a.m. Saturday for a $1 early-bird special or stop by Sunday for the bag sale, with each bag of goods costing $5.
