Also headlining this weekend is 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr' on local stages.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this weekend. Birmingham Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

Show: Flashback Friday with Magic Bus

  • When: 9 p.m. Friday
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Travel back to the 1960s this weekend with a special performance of Magic Bus during South's Flashback Friday. So grab a headband and tie-dye t-shirt, or find some beads and bell-bottom jeans. While you're there, make sure you find Mister Cool, a 14-foot tall "hippie" puppet that's part of the band.

Fashion: Fashion in Detroit's Kick Off Runway Roll

  • When: 5 p.m. Friday
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Fashion in Detroit officially kicks off this weekend with a Runway Roll at Chen Chow Brasserie. Cocktails and appetizers will be served. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities while Dennis Archer, Jr. will host.

Concert: DSO bassoon quartet

  • When: 8 p.m. Friday (doors open at 7 p.m., refreshments begin at 7:30 p.m.)
  • Where:
  • Why Go: A quartet of bassoonists from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will be the featured guest at Hagopian Friday as part of its Nite Notes concert series. The series has been around 1993 and Friday's performance is a presentation of the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, an arts-based non-profit. To purchase tickets ahead of time, visit the Hagopian website.

On the Stage: 'Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr'

  • When: 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Where:
  • Why go: Whether's it's "I'm Just a Bill" or "Conjunction Junction," we all have a favorite song from the Emmy Award-winning children's educational television series, Schoolhouse Rock. Now, the rock is back with a fun, live-action performance, featuring the actors and singers of The Community House's Sara Smith Productions Youth Theatre. Performances will be held on the Sara Evelyn Smith Stage in The Community House's Wallace Ballroom. Tickets purchased online will be available for pick-up at The Community House or at the will-call window the day of the show.

On the Stage: 'Guys and Dolls'

  • When: 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday (additional performances next weekend)
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Don't miss Seaholm students' performance of the iconic comedy, Guys and Dolls. The show first premiered on Broadway in 1950 and was later made into a 1955 film staring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. Tickets can be purchased at the Seaholm AP office, as well as at various evening activities and sporting events.
