Weekend Planner: Day on the Town, Anthony Macioce Exhibit and More

From the opening of the latest exhibit at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center to Day on the Town, there's something for everyone this weekend.

  1. Where: Downtown Birmingham
    When: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday
    Why go: What's better than an entire day of deals from all of Birmingham's hottest boutiques? Downtown Birmingham streets will be closed to vehicles Saturday so that dozens of shops can sell their discounted wares on the city's streets and sidewalks. Live entertainment will be provided on several stages throughout the day, while those with young ones can check out the Bike Parade, which starts at 8:30 a.m. at . Free parking will be provided in all city parking garages.

  2. Where:
    Downtown Birmingham
    When: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
    Why go: Check out the latest in environmentally friendly products for you and your home at the third annual Green Living Fair, taking place downtown alongside Day on the Town. More than 100 exhibitors will be at the fair, which will feature everything from free samples and children's activities to green living tips. 

  3. Where: Barrio Tacos & Tequila and
    When: 8 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday
    Why go: Party for a cure. SKIN 11 — a night of cocktails, dancing, food and a live fashion show at Barrio Tacos & Tequila — will raise funds for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. An after-party, featuring DJ John Larson, will immediately follow in the Hamilton Room.

  4. Where:
    Franklin Spa, 5755 W. Maple Rd. in West Bloomfield
    When: 5-9 p.m. Friday
    Why go: Need to get out for a much-deserved evening with your girlfriends? The Franklin Spa is hosting a girls night out, featuring two 15-minute spa treatments for only $40. Women are invited to bring in their own food and drinks, as well as plenty of girlfriends. Make reservations at thefranklinspa.com.

  5. Where:
    (BBAC)
    When: Opens Saturday
    Why go: Check out some art this weekend. The BBAC's latest exhibit opens Saturday and features the works of Anthony Macioce. The exhibit will be open until Aug. 26.
