Weekend Planner: Cranbrook Art Museum Reopening, Veteran's Day

   When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday
   Where:
   Why Go: Seaholm's artistic and technical director Daniel Dobrovich has created an updated version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream to be performed this weekend as the Seaholm fall drama production. The performance will not only include the actors, but a live student rock band, plenty of guest singers, and student-produced video elements and photography.

   When: Friday-Monday
   Where:
   Why Go: The Friends book sale is a great way to stock up on books and media at deep discounted prices. Choose from thousands of books sorted by category, priced $4 or less. There will also be audio books, DVD's, CD's and games available. On Sunday, the deal gets even better with half price on all items. If you get a chance, go back on Monday where you can fill up a bag for only $5.
3. When: 7 p.m. Friday
   Where:
   Why Go: On Friday, Michigan clarinetist Dave Bennett brings his quartet to the Hagopian showroom to play swing, Dixieband and Benny Goodman standards. Bennett is a self-taught prodigy who has played with The Detroit Symphony, released a CD, and was a featured guest with Jim Cullum's Jazz Band. His passion not only stems in jazz and swing, but rockabilly, pop and American "Roots" music.

   When: 9 p.m. Friday
   Where:
   Why Go: Cranbrook Art Museum is finally reopening, and they taking 11 days to celebrate. On Friday night, attend the Public Opening Reception and then enjoy "A Night of Music" with the Rarities, the Cupcake Collective, and Invincible.

   Where:
