Weekend Planner: Golf Championship, 'How to Train Your Dragon'

From a book sale at the Bloomfield Township Public Library to a double feature of Oscar-winning movies, there's something for everyone this weekend.

    Why go:
    How to Train Your Dragon will be the featured film Friday, the last of the city's movie nights for the season. Bring your picnic blanket or lawn chairs for a movie under the stars.

    When: 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
    Why go: This two-day golf championship features 18 holes at each golf course. Lunch is provided each day, and entrants must have a city leisure pass and pay a $60 walking fee ($80 if they want to ride in a golf cart).

    When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday
    Why go: Local author David Wodnicki will be at Zuma on Saturday to discuss his book Coffee Quest during his Coffee Quest Coffee Convention.

  4. Where: Bloomfield Township Public Library
    When: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday
    Why go: Books for children, adults and everyone in between will be on sale Saturday at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. The first hour is reserved for Friends of the Library members only.

  5. Where:

    When: 2 p.m. Sunday
    Why go: In honor of the Palladium's 10-year anniversary, the downtown theater will be showing a double feature of Oscar-winning movies Sunday. The Departed begins at 2 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner and then a showing of Crash. Tickets cost $10 per person.
