Weekend Planner: Oakland County Fair, Royal Oak Art Fair

Festival: Oakland County Fair

• When: July 6-15
  
• Where: Springfield Oaks County Park (12451 Andersonville Rd. in Davisburg)
  
• Cost: $10 per car and $5 per walk-in. Grandstand event passes are $20 per person. Tickets and armbands for carnival rides are available for an additional cost.
• Why Go: It's time for the annual Oakland County Fair in Davisburg. The fair opens at 4 p.m. Friday, with a fireworks show scheduled for dusk. Meanwhile, Saturday is Armed Forces Day while Sunday is the Oakland County Farm Bureau Day. Make sure you check out all the action, including: carnival rides, 4-H and farm animal exhibits, circus acts, the Oakland County Idol competition, Michigan Monster Truck Shootout, rodeo and more. • Where: Memorial Park (Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road)
  
• Cost: Free
  
• Why Go: The 42nd annual Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair takes place this weekend at Memorial Park. Attendees can purchase works at this juried art show, with variety of pieces available: ceramics, paintings, fiber arts, photography, wood, glass, mixed media and more. Food vendors will also be on the scene if you're hungry.

• Where: (3668 Livernois Rd. in Troy)
  
• Cost: Free
  
• Why Go: Celebrate the area's rich cultural diversity this weekend at Troy's "Who's My Neighbor" International Festival. Area residents from various countries — from Brazil to Cameroon to Ireland — will be showing off traditional dances, music, cuisine as well as a special Parade of Nations at the Zion Christian Church on Livernois. • Where: Cranbrook Art Museum (39221 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills)
• Cost: $12 for adults; $8 for children
• Why Go: George Nelson is considered one of the most influential figures in American design during the second half of the 20th century. "George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher" runs through October at the Cranbrook Art Museum, exploring the western Michigan-based architect's impact on Modernism.

• When: 4:30 p.m. Saturday
• Where: South Main Street and East 14 Mile Road, in Clawson
• Cost: Free
• Why Go: Do you live on the east side of the town? Head down to Clawson for the city's annual Cinema in the Street, during which South Main Street is shut down so that folks can bring out the folding chairs and watch a movie under the stars. Showing this weekend will be The Sandlot.
