This Weekend: Easter Egg Hunts, First Annual Teddy Bear Tea Saturday

Charity: Teddy Bear Tea

  • When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: The Townsend Hotel
  • Cost: $40
  • Why Go: Little ladies across Metro Detroit won’t want to miss the Townsend Hotel’s first annual Teddy Bear Tea, a charitable event to benefit the local nonprofit, The Bottomless Toy Chest. The afternoon will feature a kid-friendly tea menu and a raffle for a giant teddy bear. 

Music: Miro Quartet

  • When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: First United Methodist Church of Birmingham
  • Cost: $15 for adults; $5 for students
  • Why Go: Hailed by the New York Times as possessing "explosive vigor and technical fitnesse," the Miro String Quartet comes to Birmingham Saturday. In addition, the artists from Art and Soul will host an art exhibit before the concert and during the reception. The artists' work will be on sale to benefit the individual artists and Art and Soul Ministry.

Theater: 'How to Succeed in Business'

  • When: 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Marian High School (7225 Lahser Rd., Bloomfield Hills)
  • Cost: $14; $12 for seniors and children under 12
  • Why Go: The Marian-Rice Players, made up of students from Marian and Brother Rice high schools, present their spring musical, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, this weekend. The play features an ensemble made up of 20 Marian students and 15 Brother Rice students who sing and dance as the company's secretaries and executives. Tickets are available at www.marian-hs.org.

Outdoors: Open Barn

  • When: Noon Saturday
  • Where: Bowers School Farm (1219 E. Square Lake Rd., Bloomfield Hills)
  • Cost: Free though there are small charges for various activities
  • Why Go: Enjoy life on the farm by spending the afternoon with a variety of activities, such as Easter egg hunts, animal feeding, pony rides, crafts and more. 

Theater: 'The Phantom Tollbooth'

  • When: 7 p.m. Friday; 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham
  • Cost: $5
  • Why Go: The First Theater Guild of Birmingham will put on The Phantom Tollbooth, a children's production. This classic story, featuring Milo and his magical quest through the Dodrums to Dictionopolis, is celebrating it 50th anniversary.
