UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Issued; Icy Commute Likely

Expect a glazing of ice and dangerous road conditions Wednesday morning, says National Weather Service.

Be prepared for a slippery, dangerous morning commute as a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain move into the area late tonight and into tomorrow morning, warns the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 3-9 a.m. Wednesday, and up to a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation is possible before and during the morning commute on untreated roads, sidewalks and elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.

Even a small amount of ice can create hazardous travel conditions, warns the weather service, and motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
