Patch Picks: What To Do For Mother's Day in Birmingham

From brunch at The Reserve or Flemings, to tea time at The Community House and The Townsend, there's plenty for everyone this Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is almost here, and if you haven't figured out what to do with mom, we've got five ideas that doesn't require you to leave town.

Classical brunch for moms

will present a , featuring a Mother's Day caberet concert in collaboration with WRCJ at noon May 8. The concert will showcase classical music performances along with a brunch buffet. Also featured will be vocalists Lauren Skuce, Dan Gross and the Cliff Monear Trio. Tickets are $50 for both the concert and brunch, and only $10 for concert tickets.

Afternoon tea at The Townsend

If anyone deserves this break, it's a hardworking mother. is hosting its May 8 from noon-2 p.m. Moms will love the chef's selection of tea sandwiches, scones and miniature tea pastries along with hand-picked, high quality teas served in the elegant tea lobby. Adults cost $36 while kids cost $20. Reservations are required so call 248-647-2196 to save your spot.

Mother and Daughter tea at The Community House

The Community House will present a May 7, a springtime dress-up event complete with sandwiches, sweets, tea and punch. Entertainment will be provided by The Community House Ballet Ensemble, a storyteller and through various group activities. Daughters 8 and under are encouraged to bring their favorite doll, while special recognition will be given for the best look-alike. The tea begins at 11:30 a.m. and costs $15 for children and $20 for adults.

Mother's Day at Flemings Steakhouse

will open at 11:30 a.m. May 8, offering a three-course brunch menu until 3 p.m. in addition to the regular menu. The brunch menu will be offered for $32.95 per person, with a children's brunch menu available for $15.95 per person. A specialty cocktail, the Tickled Pink, will also be available all day for $6.95. In addition, every mother celebrating at Flemings will receive a $25 Flemings dining card, good through June 12.

Mother's Day brunch at The Reserve

Treat your mom to a day of delicious food and fun by taking her to the 's annual Mother's Day brunch May 8. There will be two seatings, the first from 11 a.m.-11:30 a.m., and the second from 1 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Brunch will begin with a champagne toast and will feature a variety of chef's stations. A children's menu is also available. The cost is $45 per adult, $20 for children 12 and under and $5 for children under 5.
