This Weekend's Our Shepherd Oktoberfest is Bigger Than Ever

"This is by far the best Oktoberfest line-up you will find anywhere in the area," said the event chairman for the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church's annual Oktoberfest, happening Friday-Sunday.

Wondering what to do with yourself this weekend? Don't dismay: check out today's Weekend Spotlight:

Our pick for today: Our Shepherd's Oktoberfest

  • When: Friday-Sunday
  • Where: Our Shepherd Lutheran Church
  • Cost: $5 for adults 21 and over
  • Why Go: Celebrate German food and music during the annual Our Shepherd Oktoberfest. This family-friendly event began as a simple way to celebrate all things German and has since blossomed into one of southeast Michigan's most authentic and best-attended Oktoberfests.

"This is by far the best Oktoberfest line-up you will find anywhere in the area," said Franklin Dohanyos, event chairman. "We've worked hard to make this event very authentic and family-oriented, and have kept food and drink prices low so people can stay and enjoy it more. It's a fun time for all and it's also a gret way to do community outreach and share fellowship."

All three days of Oktoberfest include German food, a selection of German beers and wine, carnival rides and games, and visits from various musicians and performers, including Herb Langegger on the accordian and the Bavarian Park Dancers.
