Need To Know: Going to the Pumpkin Patch, Halloween Parade

The Junior League of Birmingham and the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 18th annual Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Parade Sunday.

Halloween comes to Birmingham this weekend with the and the 's 18th annual .

Heading out to the festivities this weekend? Here's what you need to know:

The basics

  • When: 1-4 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: with the parade starting at the corner of Bates and Martin.
  • Cost: Free
  • Who: Everyone is invited but most games and activities will be geared toward kids 10 and under.
  • Parking: Parking is available in the and parking garages, all located within easy walking distance of The Community House. Parking is free on Sundays.

After the parade, participants and their parents can enjoy complimentary cider and seasonal snacks provided by Whole Foods Market.

What about cavities?

What's a Halloween celebration without candy? Apparently, the kind the Junior League puts on.

Junior League chair of the Pumpkin Patch Katie Dunn said Pumpkin Patch has always been about educating kids about healthy eating and avoiding those post-Halloween stomachaches brought on by too much candy.

During the event, the Junior League will sponsor several healthful, nut-free snack stations for children and parents, as well as a "create your own cookbook" station, where parents can .
