Need to Know: Birmingham Fireworks Show

The city will host its annual fireworks show tonight. Here's what you need to know.

Come celebrate America's Independence Day with a bang. The city of Birmingham will host its yearly fireworks show Sunday night, and with 1,300 shells ready to be shot into the air, hundreds of spectators from Birmingham and the surrounding areas are expected to attend. Will you be going? Here are five things to keep in mind:

  1. When and where: The show will be held at the , off 14 Mile Road near Cranbrook. The gates open at 7:30 p.m., and the show is expected to begin at dusk. Parking is available across Cranbrook at .
  2. What to bring: According to the National Weather Service, the weather today is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 82, with temperatures dipping into the upper 60s at night. That means you might want to bring a jacket along with your blanket, lawn chairs and picnic basket.
  3. What not to bring: Alcoholic beverages and sparklers are not permitted.
  4. For a front-row seat: Drop into the 's at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. For tickets ranging from $30 to $300, you get to enjoy workshops, family activities, a catered dinner and the best seat in the house for the fireworks show happening right next door.
  5. In case of rain: There isn't any in the forecast, but just in case, the city has set aside 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as the rain date.
