Group Donates $36,000 to Baldwin Public Library

The fund will be used to support the library's book clubs and summer reading program.

At their January meeting, the Friends of the Baldwin Public Library donated $36,000 to the to support its programs and outreach.

Funds will be used to support book clubs for all ages, the summer reading program, marketing and outreach efforts and a number of other worthy causes that benefit the community.

"The Friends of the Library serve a critical purpose for Baldwin. Much of the funding for our youth, teen and adult programs comes from the Friends. The Friends also supplement our regular budget in the areas of technology and marketing. For example, the library's quarterly newsletter is partly paid for by the Friends," said Doug Koschik, Baldwin Library director.

Koschik is also thankful to the Friends for the role they played in the successful fundraiser in November.

"We are grateful for the continued support of our close to 550 members. With the ongoing commitment of our members to the Friends, we are able to provide assistance to Baldwin and play an active role in building community awareness," said Barbara Suhay, President of the Friends of the Baldwin Public Library.

Funds donated by the Friends are raised through memberships and used book sales. The next major used book sale will take place on Mother's Day weekend. For information on how to join the Friends of the Baldwin Library, visit www.baldwinlib.org/friends.
